At the 185th “Dies academicus”, the foundation day ceremony of the University of Bern, eight people were awarded an honorary doctorate.
The Senate and the Executive Board of the University of Bern awarded the title of doctor honoris causa to former Federal Councilor Johann Niklaus Schneider-Ammann, Bern.
The Faculty of Theology awarded the title of doctor theologiae honoris causa to Prof. Dr. Hubert Wolf, Münster, Germany.
The Faculty of Law awarded the title of doctor iuris honoris causa to Dr. iur. Brigitte Hürlimann, Zurich.
The Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences awarded the title of doctor rerum oeconomicarum honoris causa to Prof. Dr. Lance Bennett, Seattle, USA.
The Vetsuisse Faculty awarded the title of doctor medicinae veterinariae honoris causa to Piet Borst, Amsterdam, Netherlands.
The Faculty of Humanities awarded the title of doctor philosophiae honoris causa to Dr. Georges Did-Hubermann, Paris, France (in absentia).
